Free Motion Quilting

Need a refresher on the basics of free-motion quilting, how to get started as well as a few practical tips and tricks? Learn beginning free-motion skills practicing simple wavy lines. Turn those wavy lines into basic fillers such as meandering, pebbles and swirly paisleys. This project will give you ample opportunity to practice your skills.

Requirements:
Sewing machine capable of free motion quilting
Free motion quilting foot. If you have a Bernina, foot #24, #15 and #72
Cotton thread
Quilting gloves
Sketch book and pencil
Thread snips
Universal needle size 80 or 90
(3) 18"x18" quilt sandwiches, please get plain colored fabric so that you can see what you are stitching. Any lightweight batting in fine. Examples: Hobbs 80/20, Warm and Natural, Quilters Dream Cotton
Attachable table for your machine, or Sew Ezi table, Sew Steady table.
Two thread such as Aurifil, and Floriani in colors that contrast with your fabric. I want to see bold lines on your quilt sandwich.
Two bobbins filled with the two threads you have chosen for the class.
Machingers or other gloves to help you move the fabric. Other options if you don't like gloves are, Lickity Grip (similar to the old sort quick you find at office supply stores), Grip and Stitch pads, Bernina Gripper Rings or HQ Sweet Spots.
Pencil and paper (sketch book, no lines)
